About Southside Virginia Council of the Arts

Welcome to The Southside Virginia Council of the Arts!: The Southside Virginia Council of the Arts (SVCA) was founded in July 1998 and for the last ten years has supported the establishment of several arts entities and special events within the City of Petersburg while posturing itself to take a role in the design of a strategy for the future of the arts and culture in the Southside Virginia region.

To meet its mission - to exhibit, support, create, preserve, and promote the performing, literary, visual and media arts, and to enhance our understanding of cultures through the region -- the SVCA has offered a diversity of events in music. art, fashion. literary programs, cultural exhibits and dance to maintain it's Visibility in the area but has not been in the capacity to fully support and sustain a dedicated program of its own.

The SCVA office is located in Petersburg, Virginia. It's made up entirely of volunteers who provide a diverse forum to the recreational and educational opportunities to the Tri-Cities area and throughout the South-Side of Virginia.
